The Development Services Department is responsible for current and advance planning activities and the implementation of the Lynwood General Plan and City's Zoning Code. The department is responsible for the building permits, plan check, inspections, construction design, alterations, moving, demolition, repair and use of any building or structure within the City. The department is also responsible for implementing code requirements, responding to citizen requests for service, and protecting the public health, safety and welfare.
The Development Services Department consists of three divisions:
1. Business License
2. Code Enforcement
These three divisions work collectively to administer and enforce the International Building Code, California Building Code Amendment, Lynwood Municipal Code, General Plan, Long Beach Boulevard Specific Plan and Zoning Code.
The mission of Development Services Department is to promote and enhance the quality of life in Lynwood by protecting the health, safety, and welfare of our residents and business community.This task is accomplished through multi-disciplined teams of professionals and administrative staff, balancing individual customers' and partner's requirements with a broader public interest. We facilitate safe buildings, healthy environments, and a strong local business economy, well planned neighborhoods, quality infrastructure, and provide guidance through information and recommendations for the management and direction of our future.
