Recreation and Community Services Department serves the community through
diverse and innovative programming and partnerships, leading to a healthy
community. By providing space to learn and play, space to be safe and secure,
and space to create and imagine, the Department meets an important need - the
creation of community through people, parks and programs!
Recreation and Community Services
Director, with the assistance of a Deputy Director oversee the Supervision
of Line Personnel involved in the day-to-day operation of five divisions within
the department. This division is also
responsible for Budget Preparation, Grant Preparation, Purchasing, Payroll,
Planning and conduction of Citywide Special Events.
Lynwood Community/Transit Center is located at 11301 Bullis Road in the City of
Lynwood. The Center has an 8,000 square foot, air-conditioned collegiate-size
gymnasium with open play, as well as a racquetball court. Our skate park has ramps, rails and a bowl for your enjoyment.

Lynwood Natatorium is located at 3770 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard,
Lynwood, CA 90262 adjacent to the Community/Transit Center and St. Francis
Medical Center. First opened in 1953, this heated, indoor, 50-meter,
"Olympic size" swim facility offers an enclosed sun deck, separate dressing
areas and a one-meter diving stand along with a friendly staff. The Natatorium
patio is available to rent for special occasions. For general information

Senior Citizen Center
Senior Citizen Division is under the administration of the Recreation &
Community Services Department. The Lynwood Senior Citizen Center is located at
11329 Ernestine Avenue, Lynwood, CA 90262. The hours of operation are Monday
through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00
Sports and Leisure - Mark Flores, Director of Recreation and Community Services
division offers Youth and Adult Sports Programs and Tournaments, and a variety
of special interest classes, Park Field Maintenance, Liaison to the Lynwood
Sports Association, Management and Supervision of the Community/Transit Center
located at 11301 Bullis Road.
Youth Center / Parks and Playgrounds - Diana Romero, Facility and Program Supervisor
division offers Classes, Internet Access, Drop-in Activities, Youth Programs, and Management
and Operation of the Youth Center located at 11409 Birch Street.
activities during the school-year calendar include; boy scouts, girl scouts,
holiday themed events, Youth Summer Camp, Staff Support to Citywide Special
Events, Summer Meal Program, Trips and Excursions.
Movies in the
movies in the park on a giant blow-up screen and traditional playground games
held Thursday nights at dusk in the months of July and August.
