The various Commissions, Councils and Boards of the City of Lynwood provide input to both the City Council as well as staff on a variety of issues and topics. Community members are encouraged to attend, and participate in, any of the meetings noted here.

Commission Opportunities

Individual members of the City Council appoint commissioners with the approval of a majority of the City Council.  The council reserves the right to replace or transfer a commissioner through a majority vote of the Council.

Application

Current Lynwood residents may download a Commissioner Application.  Completed applications are accepted in the City Clerk's Office.

Fireworks

Applications for permission to operate fireworks stands in the City of Lynwood are accepted between March 1st and April 1st of each year.

Please refer to Lynwood Municipal Code Section 12-2 for a complete list of fireworks rules and regulations.

The Fireworks Financial Summary Report must be returned to the City Clerk?s Office by August 19th.  Failure to comply may result in revocation of future fireworks stand permit eligibility.

Election

The next California General Election will be held on November 2, 2010.

The next Lynwood General Municipal Election will be held in November 2011.

Fair Political Practices Commission

The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) was created by the Political Reform Act of 1974 (Act), a ballot initiative passed by California voters in 1974 as Proposition 9.

The FPPC regulates:
* campaign financing and spending
* financial conflicts of interest
* lobbyist registration and reporting
* post-governmental employment
* mass mailings at public expense
* gifts and honoraria given to public officials and candidates
