As the owner of a large hardware store located on Atlantic Avenue, he has established a reputation for quality customer service.  His interest in Lynwood civic involvement stems back to 1992.  In 1993, he became a member of the Lynwood Rotary, an international non-profit service organization committed to supporting programs, such as, the City of Lynwood's Annual Easter Egg Program and the Lynwood Track and Field Program. He is currently a board member and has served two terms of service as president of the Lynwood Rotary (1997 - 1998 and 2000 - 2001).

His community service accomplishments prove that he is a committed leader with a resolve to help the community that has given back to him. He takes pride in helping senior citizens and the disabled, as well as, youth.  Each month, he donates a birthday cake to Healthview Terrace for their acknowledgement of client birthdays.  Every year at Christmas, he donates a tree to Healthview Terrace.  In support of Lynwood’s youth, he sponsors several Lynwood High School sports programs.

In his spare time, Councilmember Rodriguez enjoys outdoor activities such as camping and fishing.  He relishes that rare opportunity to read a book.
Councilmember Rodriguez was born in the town of Valparaíso, Zacatecas, México. In 1964, during his early childhood, his family migrated to the United States. Growing up in Hawaiian Gardens, he later graduated from Artesia High School in Lakewood, California.  Councilmember Rodriguez and his wife Guadalupe are proud parents of three sons and a daughter.
